Hiye, Few Questions about GW..
Hiye,
Firstly I was totally amazed by the game, then I got bit confused..and now I'm overwhelmed with great confusion, the game is so wide and complex and deep...well whoa! I just ran through 1-15 pages trying to get as much knoweldge as possible. And well I kept on getting confused and confused... Q. 1: GW does not support any country I will / planning to be in, i.e. Kuwait and Pakistan, should I still buy the game? Will they still offer good customer support? And..most importantly..will the game lag? Other RPGs like Muonline etc dun lag much for me, my best ping time for google.com is around 215-250ms. ..hmm those are basically 2 questions in 1 ^_^ Q3 then.. : I really Like mages, and well..I really like the nukers(yea thats something I just learned before I even bought the game ^_^) ...are Nukers good for soloing? or is it possible to solo lots of monsters with a solo Elementalist Build? You know with Air etc...? Will the mages/monk build be good?.. So like any real good elementalist/x build for newbies? like good for soloing too etc....I mean kinda better than the infamous 55 built ^^ Q4: With Elementalist, which secondary prof. I should include which will help best in Soloing? Q5: The lvl cap is low, we know its about skills, but after lvls caps, we still put in time and gain experience, so do the extra points can help make skills more stronger? or Do i hae to just solo untill I have enough items to buy best of everything to be strong? Q6: Can my stronger Char get a Wing? Some RPGs have wings..its reall nice to be a winger ^_^ Q7: How is the community in-game generally? Freindly like here? Arrogant? or simply do not bother to offer much help? Q8: Ermm..ppl just keep remaking Chars with new builds all the time? I mean..cant we all just settle for a good build ^_^ Q9: Which is the most demanded character in PvP game? Can I move my lvl 20 Char to PvP? or Do i have to make one specifically? Thanks for reading, Waiting so as soon as I get few answers I go and buy the key at plaync and come and play the game with you all. Take Care. Lots of your questions can be answered via the search-pal
As for lag, I live pretty down south the american continent and i only suffer lag when all the people do. As for the character growth system, its pretty easy once you try it. So my advice, buy the game... you'll not be disapointed. |

I've done alot of searching, the build question is a never-ending story..that I realized soon when I went into search, I thought I'll just ask anyway, more pro opinions always better than the analysis of someone who has yet to play the game...and God I dont even know what all the runes do and mean, so that I'll learn when I get in game.

Mesmer are great too, they have some energy stealing skills which can be handy when soloing. The 2nd profession is all about completing your first. Usually in PVE (no farming) I don't even use the 2nd profession, or if I use it, it's for 1 skill. You don't have to farm, if you don't want to, in this game; you will find runes / items / gold through the normal mission anyway. Quote:
You don't have to solo to get nice items, you have collectors throughout the game that will exchange items for great weapon / armor / focus. Most of my characters are using items from collector, I never bought any items from players. As I said, farming isn't mandatory; except if you want the 15k armor (15,000 gold per piece), that's all. Hope that will help! *EDIT* Wow.. when I was writing this post.. two posts were posted ! |

It's not so much the area you are in, but what game version you buy. If you buy the game in America you can play American and European servers, no matter where you are. But you can also switch over to Asian servers. The internet connection speed will be the main point over there, if you can get 56k, you should be fine.
For Q3, search the forums for Elemental/Monk solo builds. Q4 - Search the forums for solo builds. Q5 - You cap out at level 20, you earn skill points after that, which you can use to buy/capture skills for your professions. They don't make your skills stronger. You don't need the best to be strong, the best can (not will) give you an edge, but not necessarily. |

1. Location does not matter much. Lag seems to be more of a provider problem than a server problem in GW
3. Any profession can solo. And you could even take computer controlled henchman with you. The only downside to them is less gold and loot per kill. It's enjoyable. 4. Monk would be the best secondary for an inexperienced player to solo in GW. 5. The level cap can be reached easy and you do not really have to spend much time to get good items. The very expensive ones are only marginally better than relatively common drops (in higher area's). After reaching it you can continue to explore the PVE part or jump into the arena's to explore the PvP part .... both are a lot of fun. 6. You did not ask this but i do advise visiting a doctor prior to purchasing GW ... it is very addictive and it may never let you go ..... |

I'd say the download is about 1.2GB, that's a very rough guesstimate, based on the fact that the install off of CD is 2 CD's.

Nope, just go to www.guildwars.com and download the client it's less than a meg. Then run it and it QUICKLY installs the files direct from the server. I'm on 1mps and it took about 20 seconds.. So I'm guessing the all in all filesize is miniscule. Altough I do have 2 disks with GWs on.

You also need to realize that when you install just the client you will then have to download all the files for each area when you first go to them. This means that whenever you zone to a new area you will have to wait while it download's every single file needed to play in that area - this is why the download at the start for you was 'small".. all you downloaded was the client and link-up and character creation/display section of the game. As you hit new area's you will download a lot more than someone who installed from the CD's.. The person who install's from CD's already has all the base files for every area already installed. Whenever they hit a new area all they will have to download is the updated files, not the whole lot. This means they download a lot less and it's quicker... and For The Record.. my Guild Wars install is 925 megs - I installed from the CD's and have updated all area's up to Ascension... So there's a lot more to download with just the client install than the CD's... and as I said, not everyone is on super fast net connection's.. I couldn't have stood trying to download everything on 56K dialup like I'm on Last edited by Kamatsu; Aug 24, 2005 at 12:20 AM // 00:20.. Reason: fixed some typo's, fixed english butchering :P |
